[UPDATE: Tickets can be bought online from ticketgenie.in and from retail outlets around Bangalore]
[PREVIOUS UPDATE: Sales have NOT started, neither has a date been officially announced. There was an erroneous report on ibnlive.com that ticket sales will start on May 4. Sorry for that previous update I had given based on that, should have known better than trust our media.]
Metallica. I started listening to their songs around 10 years back, and still consider Metallica to be the “rock” on which my taste of music took foundation, as my listening habits evolved from from Bryan Adams to Michael Jackson to Bon Jovi to Iron Maiden and Metallica, and later graduated to bands playing genres of Symphonic Heavy Metal, Death Metal and Goth Metal like Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Epica, Sirenia, Eluveitie and Lacuna Coil. Metallica lyrics are easy to connect with, no matter your age is, and the music is captivating and liberating at the same time. I have hoped against hope that they would come to India and I could see them live in action, and that dream has come true!!!
I have sang along, headbanged, jumped and screamed along with them as they played out on video screens in Bangalore’s famous pubs, along with most of the remaining audience. After watching some of their famous trademark concerts on DVD, I always wondered what it would be to watch them live, and none of the concerts that regularly happen here could match up the emotion seen in Metallica concerts. October 30 is going to mark the biggest rock concert/show India has ever seen!! And I will be there, wouldn’t want to miss it for a life time!!! (And you too, better, the gates open at 1500 hrs, or 3 pm. Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds, Bangalore)
Metallica is in all aspects, a religion among metal fans. They are without doubt the most influential band which defined metal/rock music for a generation. Most of their songs have become timeless, epic, cult compositions which are the building stones for an entire music culture. The intricate arrangements, chords and riffs mixed with speed and volume which characterize their compositions have done a great deal to “bring music back down to the earth.” Yes, music has been defined by Metallica in ways which cannot be imagined. The original, raw and in your face music and lyrics have fueled many a cause of many a rebel around the world, and has inspired numerous covers, tributes and knock offs. The voice of James Hetfield have set another standard altogether, as have the guitars of Kirk Hammett and yes, the legendary drums of Lars Ulrich.
Legendary, timeless classic compositions, most of which have become cults by themselves are
- Master of Puppets
- Enter Sandman
- Sad But True
- Fade to Black
- The Unforgiven
- The Unforgiven II
- Unforgiven III
- Nothing Else Matters
- Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
- Where Ever I May Roam
- Until it Sleeps
THE UNFORGIVEN II
SAD BUT TRUE
METALLICA ROCKS! \m/
